About the Montgomery County Energy Summit

Elevating Building Performance

The Montgomery County Energy Summit serves as a premier platform for showcasing advanced building performance strategies, innovative technologies, and best practices that are driving the transformation of our built environment.

Our primary focus is to empower building professionals and facilitate collaboration that accelerates the adoption of: energy efficiency solutions, performance optimization techniques, sustainable building practices, emerging technologies, and comprehensive strategies to achieve ambitious climate goals.

I encourage both newcomers and seasoned leaders in the commercial building sector to register for this year’s event. It is a unique opportunity to explore the latest advancements in energy efficiency, sustainable practices, and emerging opportunities—all critical for advancing our shared goal of enhancing the quality of life in our community.”

— County Executive, Marc Elrich

Who Will Attend?

The Energy Summit convenes over 300 leaders from across the commercial building sector, including building owners, property managers, developers, energy contractors, and sustainability professionals from throughout the DMV region. By bringing together this diverse group of experts and practitioners, we create an environment where knowledge sharing, practical solutions, and innovative strategies converge to advance building performance and achieve our ambitious climate goals.

Let’s Decarbonize! A Hands-on Building Decarbonization Workshop!

Excited to decarbonize? Want to learn more about how to do it? This highly interactive session will provide a hands-on introduction to building decarbonization planning. First, it will introduce decarbonization fundamentals using core concepts from the ASHRAE/USGBC/NYSERDA Guide to Strategic Decarbonization Planning.

Then, in small groups, attendees will work together to develop a mock building decarbonization plan using information from an actual building. Each group will explore and evaluate strategies to reduce building GHG emissions while considering costs, trigger events, and other key contextual factors. Session attendees should come ready to engage with their peers and get to work!
